How to Play Texas Hold’em Poker ?
In the beginning, the dealer button is given to one of the players, which moves clockwise to the next player at the end of every hand. Initially, two face down cards are dealt to each players. These face down cards are known as “hole cards”. This is followed by the first round of betting which starts with a small blind, and then big blind is placed by player sitting at the left of the dealer. These bets can be said as forced bets that are made before seeing one’s cards. Thereafter game play runs clockwise starting from the blinds, with each player having the option to fold the cards, call, or raise the bets. The blinds are “live” which means that these blinds may be raised every time players gets action buttons. In heads up round, the dealer places the small blind and the second player places the big blind. Then action returns to the small blind, who needs to choose either actions such as call, fold, or raise based on the strength of poker hands to continue the betting.
After first round of betting, the players are dealt with 3 face up cards in the middle of the table; these face up cards are known as “flop”. Immediate after dealing, betting round takes place starting from the first blind which is immediately to the left of dealers. Once betting round is finishes off, another card is dealt face up known as “Turn”, which is also followed by another round of betting round from same position which is left of the dealer. Then the final face up card known as the “River” is dealt. This is followed by the last round of betting for the hand.
After the final round of betting, the face down cards are revealed to other players and hole cards are combined with the three out of five community cards. As Texas Hold’em is the game of the highest rank cards only where players with the best five-card combination wins the pot. Though, it is not necessarily needed for players to use both of their hole cards to make their best hand, it can be one card only with the four community cards.
